Coming back across the pond

October 27th, 2006

After some rather serious health scares, my father is doing great and will be celebrating his 60th birthday this week-end. Romeo and I are therefore flying across the pond to Gai Paris to be there with the rest of the family. We were supposed to come over just for the week-end, but since I have a new job, I also need to get the new visa that goes with it to be allowed back on this side of the pond. I will therefore be staying in Paris for a whole week, until November 4th. I am technically not on vacation and will be working, but should be able to accommodate seeing some of you either for lunch or dinner so please drop me an email.

Other than that, things are great, my job is nice, living on the Cape is wonderful and I can’t wait to catch up with all of you.

Hope to see ya soon

Long overdue

October 23rd, 2006

Sorry if I have been absent from here from so long. Many, many things have happened lately and my schedule has been too crazy to make much time for blogging.

My grandfather passed away as I was in the middle of my move and still at my old job. He had been fading over the past couple of months and we all saw it as a relief for him to rest in peace. Thanks to all of you for your support and prayers. Thanks in particular to all who helped me make last minute plans to go to France so I could be there for a last good-bye: people at work and friends. It has been truly helpful to be able to count on you all. Special thanks to Romeo, who put up with all this mileage (and my crazy driving skills) last July so we could go and spend some time together with him one last time.

On the brighter side of things, my move went really well, my change of jobs was very smooth and it has been a true blessing to be finally close to Romeo. It’s funny how living together (as opposed to 80 miles apart) can make things easier. We’ve been involved in many things since I moved in, but mostly in making a real home out of the first floor at Millfield. I am happy to say that we’re pretty close to done: the wallpaper is down, the paint is up and almost all the mold is gone! We will start taking applications for week-end and summer vacations soon, so get your calendars ready :)
