Big News!

August 24th, 2006

You know how the saying goes? No news is good news? It probably started as a feel-good expression so people could stop worrying about their friends and family who, quite like me, were silent for a while. According to this saying and since at this point, you have had no news of me for a while, here comes the good news.

   1. I got a new job down on the Cape.
   2. I am going to be an engineer (…) again (?).
   3. I am moving down to the Cape …
   4. … to Woods Hole, actually …
   5. … with Romeo!
   6. I quit my current job and was asked to stay (so many months of feeling underworked and underused - for nothing).
   7. This all means Romeo and I should be doing more sailing and cycling together soon.

I am very very excited and can’t wait to tell you more about it, but right now, things are a little crazy and my schedule is surprisingly SUPER busy. Along with all of the above come things like packing my apartment, hiring movers, training the new guy to do my old job, getting paperwork for a new-old car, cleaning up the apartment before I leave, cleaning up the new house (haven’t started that yet) and getting as much sailing in as possible.

That would be to appease Romeo’s boat, Cavatina, who had been rather upset all summer for lack of being taken out for a sail since … last year (?) I am sure she was also somewhat jealous of Grain d’Sel, my Dad’s boat, that we went sailing on in July, leaving her behind. One way we found out is that she had accumulated so much grime and barnacles under her hull that a 2-hour sail under over 30 knots of wind wasn’t quite enough to clean off and Romeo ended up having to dive to scrub her underbelly. Now that she’s clean again, she should be fast and he can’t wait to take her out again!

Pictures from 4-day Indian Wedding in Texas

August 9th, 2006

Remember last June, when Romeo and I went to his brother’s wedding in Texas? The wedding in which the lucky groom finally marries his college sweetheart. It was a little while ago and I apologize for the delay, but the pictures are finally up.

The lucky bride’s family is from India and hosted the most fabulous wedding I have ever been to. Romeo and I were there for 4 days and many different celebrations. It was a true cultural experience for me, as I had never been to an Indian wedding before. The women all wore beautifully colored saris and the bride was stunning in every one of very many outfits. It was a lot of fun and over so many days, it was easy to accumulate a decent collection of pictures. Maybe you would like to check them out for yourself, by clicking here?
