What an awesome Monday!
April 12th, 2006It was an early day and if you know me, that’s not usually a good start, but it also happened to be my birthday and I got a ton of nice gestures and words from many: family, friends, co-workers, and random people … altogether making it a very special day.
The phone rang for the better part of the day and emails came in from people who remembered (I am still getting these emails: keep them coming!) and wanted to make me feel special. I got to cut a cake, and read a card signed by all my co-workers. And the day went by in a flash, and I was out of the office in no time.
My favorite French restaurant Pierrot Bistro also had many kind gestures that evening. I had planned on having dinner there with my very handsome significant other but the Gods had decided otherwise. The kitchen would be closed by the time we were ready for dinner. So I begged in my best French, to see if maybe just this once, they would accept to prepare food for take-out. Well, since it was my birthday and I sounded very French on the phone, they accepted and I went to look at the menu. I have always been delighted by the outstanding service there and must say that once again, they exceeded my expectations by offering me a complimentary glass of Champagne while I was preparing my order.
So that evening, the food was in the oven, keeping warm; the Champagne was in the fridge, keeping cool; candles were lit; the view on the Park was beautiful and my very caring date arrived to make a fire in the fireplace, and turn on the music complied together just for me.
That’s when time should stop, just a little bit, just as a birthday present to me… I have to confess that my date did everything in his power to make that happen: Monday bliss continued into Tuesday and we had lunch together in the park. Only, time won once more and it just went by way too fast.
Must do it again… Maybe this week-end
