Remember last June, when Romeo and I went to his brother’s wedding in Texas? The wedding in which the lucky groom finally marries his college sweetheart. It was a little while ago and I apologize for the delay, but the pictures are finally up.
The lucky bride’s family is from India and hosted the most fabulous wedding I have ever been to. Romeo and I were there for 4 days and many different celebrations. It was a true cultural experience for me, as I had never been to an Indian wedding before. The women all wore beautifully colored saris and the bride was stunning in every one of very many outfits. It was a lot of fun and over so many days, it was easy to accumulate a decent collection of pictures. Maybe you would like to check them out for yourself, by clicking here? Juste un petit mot pour vous annoncer que j’ai (enfin) mis des photos de Grèce sur mon site, ici. J’ai mis à jour Athènes, et la plupart des villes que j’ai visitées sur Santorin. Ma préférée est toujours Ohia!
Just a quick note to let you know that I have (finally) uploaded some pictures from Greece, here. These include Athens and most of the towns I visited in Santorini. My favorite is still Ohia!
Thanks to all who rode with us last Sunday: you know who you are! To all who refused to come or found lame excuses, you can find out here and here what you missed out on!
Have you ever been to New York City? If so, have you ever dreamt of seeing a New York City void of cars? Well, then, the next 5 boro bike ride in 2007 may be your chance. This is the only event I know of for which they close down all traffic for over 5 hours so that cyclists can take over the road! Imagine the FDR Expressway, the Varrazano bridge and other bridges invaded by more than 20,000 cyclists? You can’t? You may just have to join the 5 Boro Bike Tour next year and pray for the weather we had this year. The weather was absolutely perfect and I suspect that is why they ran out of vests for participants a few days before the ride. Rumors had it that more than 34,000 cyclists registered last Sunday.
PS. A little note to all you crazy nuts out there: this is a bike RIDE, NOT a RACE so please respect other riders!
Here is a country I know probably more than my own for having traveled so many miles by bus on week-ends and tried so many youth-hostels… Every single week-end during 3 months, I went someplace new, on a shoe string budget, camera in hand. I had a blast and found that Spain is just unbelievably beautiful, but maybe you can check for yourself.
My favorite ones are here, in particular the ones of the Alhambra in Granada but they are all worth a look - in my opinion at least
In case you were getting bored with the lack of updates lately, you will be glad to hear that I have FINALLY scanned a bunch of prints and uploaded them. These prints include pictures from Africa (Mauritania and Cameroon); Washington DC - admittedly a few from Virginia slipped in here - and New York City.
I am actually pretty proud of the New York City shots. If you look at them carefully, you can see that the skyline dates back to pre-2001. It’s a piece of history and nostalgia that is in no way meant to be disrespectful.
Up for an update and expansion soon are the shots from Spain, which will include additional cities and beauties of architecture and culture. Stay tuned!
Spring is coming, or so they say. Yesterday was warm enough to ride my bike without any gloves on. Granted, I was not biking very far, but given how cold-blooded I am, it is a good sign that the mercury level of the thermometer is somewhere above 55. Today is supposed to be even warmer, but who knows if I’ll get to experience that much: from my office chair, behind the computer screen, it’s tough to tell the difference.
Then rain all week-end (that’s Spring all right), but chances of SnoW on Tuesday… now that’s not a nagging Spring, it’s just plain mean!
Anyway, in case the weather forecast is right and it rains over the week-end, I have found you something to do. Thoughtful ol’ me has posted a bunch of new pictures on the website: under Massachusetts, for both the Cape & Boston! Along the way, I also found some quaint shots of Rockport, but that may come at a later time, when the weather gets really nice and we can start eating lobster outside.
It is getting late, I am getting lazy and have refused to organize my pictures of France for now, so I have picked a pretty dozen to fill in the blanks.
Eventually, there will be separate sections for Paris, the Alps, Brittany, Ardèche, and the rest of France. More scanning of paper pictures is required for that so it will have to wait!
